Old Haleiwa Town is an enchanting surf town, with echoes of Hawaii’s plantation past. It is also the artistic center of the North Shore and has some of the world’s best beaches -- Ehukai (Banzai Pipeline) and Sunset Beach.
Waimea Bay Beach Park is the mecca of big wave surfing in Hawaii, especially from November to March. Have an exciting beach day. Pack a picnic and watch the pro surfers take on some of the gnarliest waves.
Visit Waimea Falls Park with the entire family for an afternoon strolling botanical gardens, picnicking on grassy knolls, and swimming at the bottom of a grand waterfall.
Contrary to its name, no sharks permanently reside at Shark’s Cove. What you will find when you snorkel here are turtles, goat fish, butterfly fish, eels, mullet, parrotfish and so much more.
Eat your way through Oahu’s surfing capital. Between the acai bowls, the shrimp trucks, the barbecue, sushi and epic burgers, you are bound to find a meal that puts a huge smile on your face.
If you could do with stretching your legs after trying all of North Shore’s tasty food, check out Mokuleia Forest Preserve. During your walk, have a little fun by guessing all the different types of fruit trees.
Riding the big waves of some North Beaches is not for amateurs or the faint of heart. This is where professional surfers come to claim their titles. Nevertheless, it can be just as thrilling to have a front row seat to watching the best surfers in the world mount those infamous gigantuan waves.
