Lanikai beach means “heavenly sea” in Hawaiian, and an afternoon on Lanikai Beach is bound to feel utopian. While you are sunbathing on its shores, enjoy views of the world famous Mokulua Islands. Honolulu is on the island of Oahu in the state of Hawaii. The beautiful Hawaiian Islands.
Kailua Farmers Market has locally grown tropical fruits, candied macadamia nuts, and roasted coffee beans fresh from the farm. It also has vendors serving barbecue, pizza, sushi and a host of other cuisines. Is your mouth watering yet?
Maunawili Falls is a two mile bonanza. The trail will lead you to a gushing waterfall with a pool nestled in a forest.
Trek Lanikai Pillboxes, then pat yourself on the shoulder for a job well done when you reach the top of the hill and see the Mokulua Islands, Makapuu lighthouse and city below.
SUP enthusiasts love Kailua beach. The ocean breeze here is enough to move your board along, but soft enough to keep the experience serene. You might also spot a turtle or two.
Kailua is bike-friendly because it is flat and easy to maneuver. Be sure to bring a lock for when you want to stop for a dip in the ocean.
The other really wonderful thing about Kailua’s still waters is that it is perfect for kayaking. You can stick near the shore or paddle out to the Mokulua islands not far off shore.
